Great piece. I was just the other day trying to 'reason' with a guy who posts Robert Reich memes (the litmus test of Useful idiocy.) This particular meme claimed that (was it Steven Miller?) is profiting off deporting IMMIGRANTS due to his ties to Palantir. I commented, So Reich can't tell the difference between an immigrant and an illegal immigrant. The morally superior poster said that Trump is deporting legal immigrants. No interest in who, exactly, and why. Just "immigrants."

I've seen the Communist fly on the wall for some time. And whenever I try to convey this to the typical D voter of 60+. they seem completely incapable of understanding it. I suspect that their politics are fossilized in the 80s or early 90s when the D's might have been more -- I don't know what. At this juncture I'm wondering why I ever voted D in the first place.

The union at the progressive university in NYC where I teach was pushing Mamdani. I have spent time with its Millennial female president. A delusional, naive, stupid woman. "There is no difference between men and women." "What about testosterone?" "That doesn't matter." "Then why would women inject it in order to become more masculine?" "What I care about is EQUALITY." (Then proceeds to put herself in every possible position of power, vis-a-vis attending choir with our superiors in order to ingratiate herself....

Anyway, I digress. NYC is filled with "educated" women who will never get married because feminism and delusions about men....so they need the free stuff...and their proxy children are the poor --the terrorists in particular -- they don't bother trying to understand how these people can be dangerous because....

"White people commit crimes too."

Anyone endorsed by AOC and Leticia James is a no for me. No thanks.

You are correct, 'completely incapable of understanding it.' This is exactly how London was lost,

I am less concerned about his religious affiliation than his potential for complete incompetence. The Democratic mayor to be of NYC, along with the mayors of Chicago, LA and San Francisco are a gift to Republicans that keeps on giving. Masters of misgovernance.

Me too, but on the real, Iranian Islamic socialism is a real thing.

First there was DC, next Chicago, San Francisco, LA, and now NYC has to FAFO.

I don't recognize this world anymore.

Socialists always say. “It will work this time.” Good bye NYC.

Zohran Mamdani's charisma, plus the fabulously corrupt political machine in New York could absolutely make him mayor in the general election. That would embolden marxists in every major city. He is a harbringer of accelerated decline in our economic hub cities, a fundamental threat to the very idea of America.

This is the stupidest thing I’ve read in at least a month, and well ahead of the libertarian piece where climate change was presumed to be easily market solvable and waved away in a sentence. Impressive stuff but I would encourage you to touch grass for your own well-being - it’s important to be able to connect with at least a semblance of objective reality, and it’s much less frightening than the delusion you’ve laid out here.

If NYC manages to not melt into a pathetic puddle of good, after stupidly self administering an even more mondo megadose of chi chi radicalism than that associated with the Deblasio debacle, maybe a by then well primed Barron Trump will become mayor, clean up the big apple, and then, should he choose to do so, head on to the bigger, the better, the WH!

(Just having fun)

Pro Tip: stay away from NYC for now.

A great question.

Now that you mention it....

....I would have to doubt

that his emergence is organic.

AOC is waving banners for him.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was recruited and supported by Justice Democrats, a progressive political action committee that formed after the 2016 election. Their mission was to challenge entrenched Democratic incumbents by backing grassroots candidates who aligned with a bold, left-leaning platform.

In 2017, Justice Democrats and another group called Brand New Congress launched a campaign to crowd source potential candidates from across the country. AOC’s brother actually nominated her through that process.

The organization then vetted her, provided campaign infrastructure, and helped her build a strategy to take on Joe Crowley, one of the most powerful Democrats in the House at the time.

HER rise wasn’t just spontaneous; it was part of a deliberate effort to reshape the Democratic Party from the ground up.

Your writing is way more thoroughly thought through than mine. I'm a single draft only kind of guy. I practically fire from the hip. I appreciate the thoroughness in the manner that you assemble and arrange salient information. You're good.

I am flattered.

But Jones, I keep it a thow-wow. Takes me 4 or five days to do these joints. Same as my scientific papers, I publish. Most cats I work with in academia take months for a single paper. Mind you, I collect and analyze my own data.

Jouranls be on that dumb shit. True most accept with minor corrections but a lot be on some bich shit with their middling and meager admonishments, so they hate that the country boy (me) correct they azz and push back on their learned ineptnesses. So instead of over 500 publications in journals, I only have about 150.

Fuck them tricks mane.

My colleagues say control my temper, I am like brain cell against brain cell; To me it's Genghis Khan or Shaka Zulu versus Don Lemon or Gavin Newsom.

You're solid, don't trip. But the scientist in me gotta stand on merit and pronunciation.

I read your piece and unfortunately you fall prey to the conspiratorial, anti-Muslim propaganda of the far right. Right-wing populists who want to keep us subdued and justify or build their their power often hint or state outright that some group is behind the scenes pulling the strings that cause our discomfort -- be it Jews, Muslims or some other minority.

Who's holding your supposed canary? Certainly not Iran, with which Mamdani has no connection. He was born in Uganda, as you acknowledge. He's just as American as any other American. Several US-born politicians pose a threat to the country. Mamdani doesn't. No Muslim, Jewish or other mastermind exists - it's all a fiction.

NYC has not 'fallen to Islam'. I lived in this fantastic, international city for years and many religions exist quite peacefully side by side. Islam has no more 'taken over' than has Falun Gong.

I'm British and now live in France. I can inform you that there's no Sharia law in either country and that in fact Islam is very much a minority religion. I have many Muslim friends. There's no religious conflict at my kids' school. London is thriving - I enjoy its diversity.

The media love to scare us with the tales of extremism, but in general different peoples live happily together.

It's all just propaganda whipped up by right-wing populists to draw attention from the pillaging of wealth from ordinary people. "Look over there," they say, "that person who looks a bit different to you is stealing your lunch".

In reality the people stealing your lunch are the 573 people who became new billionaires during the pandemic, at the rate of one every 30 hours. Billionaires have roughly doubled their fortunes since 2020, whilst global total wealth has stayed around the same. The top 1% of the world population now owns nearly half of all global wealth, and since 2020 have captured nearly two-thirds of all new wealth created.

It suits the super-rich and their propagandists to pit us against one another on spurious grounds, because then they are free to get on with the job of pillaging our wealth.
